Cristiano Ronaldo is extending his interests into the Web3 space with a new non-fungible token (NFT) collection created in partnership with Binance. This new collection, titled “Forever Worldwide: The Road to Saudi Arabia,” aims to celebrate Ronaldo’s ascent from a budding talent in Madeira to becoming a football legend. These NFTs will encapsulate various stages of his career journey, underscoring his transitions from local football in Madeira to his influential periods at Manchester United and Real Madrid.
According to an interview with Sarah Dale, Binance’s head of brand partnerships, the collection is a result of collaborations with local artists from cities significant to Ronaldo’s career, including Madeira, Lisbon, Manchester, Madrid, Turin, Saudi Arabia, and Portugal. Each artist has crafted unique designs for the NFTs, making them truly special. Ronaldo himself emphasized that the collection is meant to offer his fans extraordinary digital artworks that symbolize key moments in his career, saying that the emotional depth captured by each artist adds a sentimental value, allowing these moments to live forever in digital form.
Dale explained that Ronaldo’s previous NFT projects showed his knack for engaging with his fans and creating memorable interactions. The new NFT series will provide some lucky holders an extraordinary opportunity to meet Ronaldo in person in Riyadh. She mentioned Ronaldo’s genuine enthusiasm for connecting with his fans, noting, “He loves meeting with his fans. We prepare him with scripts, but he really does go off-script and engages with his fans. I think his happiest time on set was when his fans were there last time.”
The “Forever Worldwide” collection will be unveiled in two phases before the 2024/2025 football season. The first batch, which launched on May 29, features NFTs from Madeira, Lisbon, and Manchester. Artists Katt Phatt and Rodrigo Doin designed artworks for Madeira and Lisbon, depicting Ronaldo’s early years, while Manchester artist John Sheehan created pieces highlighting his successful tenure with Manchester United.
The second phase, set for June 6, will present NFTs from Madrid, Turin, and Saudi Arabia. Spanish artist Lisett Ledón, Italian artist Pasquale Garibaldi, and Saudi artist Shaker Kashgari developed these works to commemorate Ronaldo’s significant periods at Real Madrid, Juventus, and his current role with Al-Nassr FC in Saudi Arabia. Seven exceptionally rare NFTs will be auctioned later in June, created by Portuguese street artist Mr. Dheo, celebrating Ronaldo’s extensive career with the Portuguese national team.
Collecting these NFTs offers more than just digital artwork. Owners will gain access to a range of real-world rewards, including vintage football jerseys, match tickets, and signed posters. Certain collectors will even have the chance to submit questions that Ronaldo will answer in personalized videos. The seven super-rare Portugal NFTs offer an exclusive experience, including a trip to Riyadh to watch a match and a unique goal celebration moment with Ronaldo himself.
This latest venture underscores Ronaldo’s ongoing effort to strengthen his bond with fans through innovative digital experiences. It merges his storied football career with the burgeoning world of digital collectibles, presenting fans with a new way to engage with their idol.
