Captain Tsubasa NFT Soccer Game Launches on Oasys Blockchain

The beloved Japanese manga and anime series, Captain Tsubasa, has introduced its latest venture into the digital world with the launch of an NFT soccer game on the Oasys blockchain. This platform is dedicated to the advancement of Web3 gaming. On May 20, Oasys made an exciting announcement that a unique version of the iconic Captain Tsubasa game, initially created by the distinguished Japanese author and illustrator Yōichi Takahashi, is now available on its Web3 gaming blockchain.

Originally, this innovative Web3 game was brought to life by the development teams at Mint Town and Blocksmith. Although the project was first introduced to the public in 2022, it officially went live on January 12, 2023. As the game’s development progressed, a significant milestone was achieved with the release of its governance token on June 4, 2023. This token plays a crucial role in the game’s ecosystem.

In the game, players have the opportunity to collect NFTs that represent various characters from the original Captain Tsubasa animated series. More than just collecting, gamers can enhance these characters, assemble their teams, and immerse themselves in different gameplay modes. For those who cherish the classic storyline, the Rival mode allows them to relive it. Competitive players can engage in the PvP mode, where they face off against others online. An Arena mode offers the thrilling experience of full 11 versus 11 soccer matches.

Hiroshi Kunimitsu, CEO of Mint Town, believes that the integration with the Oasys blockchain provides fans with an innovative way to enjoy the beloved animated saga. He emphasized how this release showcases the power of blockchain technology in enriching interactive entertainment and gaming experiences.

Captain Tsubasa has a long and illustrious history. The manga first appeared in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1981, and due to its popularity, it was adapted into an anime series two years later, in 1983. Over the years, Captain Tsubasa has seen numerous movies and television adaptations, with the most recent series airing in 2018. By 2023, the franchise had sold an impressive 90 million copies globally, solidifying its status as one of the best-selling manga series ever.

To commemorate the game’s debut on the Oasys blockchain, special Genesis NFTs are being released, featuring unique capabilities such as boosting players’ energy points. This addition brings a new depth to the gameplay, enhancing the overall experience for collectors and players alike.

The launch of this NFT game is timely, coinciding with a resurgence in the activity of GameFi studios, thanks to the recovery in cryptocurrency prices. For example, on May 15, the Web3 gaming studio Immutable released the Guild of Guardians game on both Google Play and the Apple App Store. Just a few days earlier, on May 13, the Web3 game Pixels achieved remarkable success by surpassing 1 million daily active players and generating a significant $4.4 million in token revenue. The game’s migration to the Ronin blockchain on February 22 led to a staggering $2.7 billion valuation.

This trend indicates a growing interest and investment in Web3 gaming, illustrating the potential for blockchain technology to revolutionize the gaming industry. Captain Tsubasa’s venture into NFT gaming is a testament to how traditional entertainment franchises can evolve and adapt, thereby capturing the interest of both old fans and new enthusiasts within the digital age. With blockchain technology paving the way, the future of interactive entertainment seems brighter than ever.
